Home Improvement

A kitchen remodel adds more value to your home than the remodel of any other room. A kitchen sells your home unlike any other room of the home. The heart of your home is likely within your kitchen. With these important points – why not opt for the kitchen of your dreams? Americans spend a great deal of time in the kitchen, whether cooking for friends and family or entertaining, so it should be a space that is not just functional, but one that you never want to leave.

While many are unsatisfied with their current kitchens, few know what they should do about it. Perhaps they’ve considered a remodel in the past, but they’re not sure the first steps to take to turn their dream kitchen into their home’s new reality. Dreaming up your dream kitchen is fun, but what is even more fun is stepping foot into that dream kitchen for the first time.

Creating Your Dream Kitchen

Creating your dream kitchen is the first step in making that kitchen a reality, but what goes into the planning process? Having a team of professionals to design with you is best, but there are some things you can do on your own to really allow your kitchen dreams to take shape. A few tips for drawing up those beginning ideas for your dream kitchen are:

  • Start with a budget – A budget is an important starting point. With your budget in mind, you can start looking into what your dream kitchen can include, what you may need to skip, and how you can create what you want out of the budget you’re working with.

  • List your kitchen must-haves – Rather than sitting with a sketchpad, start with a notepad first. When you think about your dream kitchen, what do you think of first? Is it a breakfast nook? An island? Double ovens? List your kitchen-must haves and separate your kitchen needs from your kitchen wants.

  • Consider the layout for your space – If your kitchen space is rather small, you may simply not have the layout appropriate for a breakfast nook, but a breakfast bar might be an alternative option. Take the current layout of your kitchen and the space you have and consider it for your new desired layout.

  • Take to the sketch pad – With your wants, your needs, your layout, and your budget in mind, begin drawing up what your dream kitchen will look like. Mark details as much as possible, and have the sketch ready to show to your professional kitchen design team.
